Stargate Universe

A sudden attack on the secret Icarus Base forces its personnel and civilian visitors to evacuate through a newly unlocked nine-chevron Stargate address. Instead of reaching an expected refuge, they emerge aboard Destiny, an immense Ancient ship travelling through distant galaxies. Supplies are limited, much of the vessel is inaccessible and its route cannot be freely controlled, leaving soldiers, scientists and civilians dependent on one another despite fierce disagreements over leadership.

The third live-action Stargate series places greater emphasis on survival, divided loyalties and the psychological cost of isolation. Colonel Everett Young commands the stranded expedition, while scientist Nicholas Rush pursues Destiny’s larger mission with priorities that often conflict with the immediate needs of the crew. Communication stones provide a fragile connection with Earth but also introduce questions of identity and control.

Lou Diamond Phillips recurs as Colonel David Telford, the officer originally intended to lead the expedition. Remaining within reach of Earth after the evacuation, Telford becomes an important link to Stargate Command and an uneasy counterpart to Young. His story expands through command disputes, the Ancient communication system and his compromised relationship with the Lucian Alliance, giving him a continuing role on both sides of Destiny’s separation from home.
