The Pipefitters
Gallery
The Pipefitters were a major force on the L.A club scene and in demand all over Southern California. Everyone from Steve Luckather to Melissa Etheridge dropped by to jam with the band.
The band has scored music for films, acted in bit parts in movies and television, and played on recording sessions.
Collectivly, the band pooled it's talents to form an infectious, highly danceable, blend of R&B and Rock and Roll. Their outrageous stage shows became major "street talk" on the L.A music scene.
Lou Diamond Phillips, a friend to the band since his pre-movie stardom days in Texas, combines a powerful flair for lyric writing with the strong melodies of the bands other principal songwriters, bassist and lead vocalist Chris Lindsey and guitarist Mitch Lijewski. The instrumental assault of Lijewski on lead guitar, Randy Boase in sax, Brian kern on keyboards and Bill Allen on harmonica combined with the "solid as a rock" drumming of Scott Kay, holding it all together, give The Pipefitters mostly original repertoire, an irresistable musical foundation.
As an in demand touring band, the group shared the stage with everyone from Chuck Berry and Ringo Starr to Neil Young and John Mellencamp.
Whether it be New Yorks legendary Ritz Theatre, Farm Aid VI in front of 62,000 people, or hundreds of funky Road Houses and Rock Clubs across America where they have drawn turn away crowds, The Pipefitters brought their brand of distinctive Roots Rock to the masses.
Although the group was highly successful they never recorded any "Pipefitters" albums, but they did appear on the soundtrack for Lou's movie "Sioux City" with Chris Lindsey performing the musical score and Lou singing with the pipefitters for the song "Find your Way Home".
Here is a short list of some of the songs the group performed at various clubs:
I Saw You Runnin', Nicotine George, Uh Oh Get Out Of The Car, Someone Else's Blues, The House Of Bluesville, I Can't Stop The Sun, Low Side, Just Forever Jenny,
I'll Take You There, Nadine.
The Pipefitters no longer tour together due to family commitments.
